Facts about Prince
What are MZIs?

Prins & Dingemanse uses MZIs. These mussel seed capture installations are a sustainable alternative to traditional mussel seed harvesting.

How does it work?

A mussel seed capture installation consists of nets or ropes hanging in the water. Mussel larvae attach themselves to these nets and ropes, which then grow into baby mussels of one to two centimeters. This is the mussel seed. The MZIs are in the water every year from March 1 to November 1. In the summer and fall, harvesting takes place one or more times.
